It was an early start for us as we began our travel to one of my favourite cities in Europe, the home town of the Vincent Van Gogh and Anne Frank Museum, Amsterdam. Beginning with a 5:30AM wake up Clara and I went to pick the girls up for a refreshing drive down to Stansted Airport where we managed to catch the beautiful winters sunrise. Once getting through airport security without any problems we waited patiently for our 8:30AM flight at Joe and the Juice where we had some reviving smoothies and planned out our quick getaway. The flights duration was unbelievably short and I was extremely buzzed to explore more of this city so close to home with Tess and Mia that we immediately started walking around as soon as we got off the bus in Amsterdam. Having come from rainy old England we were expecting the same but it came to a surprise to see the left over snow and sunny weather and we enjoyed it whilst it lasted which wasn't very long and as it started to drizzle decided to drop of our bags and meet our host Eleanor - one of my mothers old friends. I had previously been to the house before but I can honestly say it is still one of the nicest inner city apartments I have ever been in; incredibly urban and modern with personal touches of artworks from around the world but whats so unreal is how open it feels yet we were about 10min walk from the city centre.
After getting cozy in some waterproof and warm clothes we began exploring the diverse city of bikes and having been here many times before I had already adjusted to the city so it was amusing to watch Tess and Mia get the hang of the chaotic bike transport. We walked around following the the canals and going from one vintage shop to the next. I showed them the Tulip market, the Dam square and of course the cute little cafes. Soon after a lovely dinner at Eleanors apartment we ended the day with the sunset and some classic dutch snack-bar vending machine food. Now goodnight and until tomorrow.
